President and Treasurer: Lynn Loar , Ph.D., LCSW, is a social worker with expertise in child abuse and neglect. She
is the President and Treasurer, a research associate with MRI, the co-founder of the Humane Coalition Against Violence and
the former educational coordinator for the San Francisco Child Abuse Council. She lives on the California coast. Author of
(2004) Teaching Empathy: Animal-Assisted Therapy Progarms for Children and Families Exposed to Violence. Alameda,

Vice President: Karen Pryor is a scientist with an international
reputation in two fields, marine mammal biology and behavioral psychology. Through her work with dolphins in the 1960s she
pioneered modern, force-free animal training methods. She is the author of many scientific papers and monographs and eight books, including Reaching the Animal Mind, Nursing Your Baby and Don't
Shoot the Dog! The New Art of Teaching and Training. She is a founder and leading proponent of clicker training,
a world-wide movement involving new ways to communicate positively with pets and other animals. She is the founder and CEO
of a behavioral publishing company, Sunshine Books, Inc., and its on-line divisions, www.clickertraining.com and www.clickerpet.com.
Karen has three children and seven grandchildren. She lives in Boston with two dogs and a cat.
Secretary: Barbara Boat, Ph.D., is Associate Professor, Department
of Psychiatry, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, and Director, Childhood Trust, Children's Hospital Medical Center.
She does treatment, training, and research in childhood trauma and maltreatment.
Member of the Board of Directors: Libby Colman holds doctorates in Social Psychology and English Literature. She has been honored by the City of San Francisco for her dedication to children and families at risk. She has published ten books including ground-breaking works on emotional aspects of pregnancy and early parenting, and co-authoring two books and a video with Lynn Loar. She spent most of her adult life in Marin County, CA, first in Sausalito, then on Tomales Bay. She now lives with her dog Moxie in Estes Park, CO, where she hikes the trails, watches wildlife, and writes fiction.
